Hi Sam,
As you can imagine, I spend a lot of time talking to people about pools. It’s sort of my thing.
A lot of people are just absolutely psyched to finally make their pool dreams a reality.
Others are excited about the idea… but have reservations, too.
I get it! And I don’t want to talk anyone who doesn’t want a pool into getting one.
I’ve built this company, and my reputation, on happy customers.
Not everyone’s a pool person. Some people just don’t like pools (shocking, I know).
But sometimes, I talk to someone who IS a pool person – someone who would love to enjoy a sunset swim every night, or to be “the house” everyone wants to come to on a hot day – but won’t make their pool dreams a reality because of indecision, or a misconception they have about owning a pool.
One of the most common misconceptions?
“A pool is too much work.”
Honestly, this one drives me crazy.
Because out of all of the many, many people I know with a pool that they love, not one of them would trade their pool for a chance not to take care of it anymore.
It’s just not that big of deal.
When it comes to caring for their pool, many fall into four categories:
Work Smarter, Not Harder: “I use a drop-in robot, and after a month or so I had the chemicals dialed in. It takes maybe 20 min per week to maintain. Not an issue for me.”
The Mindful Method: “I enjoy my time taking care of it because I always wanted a pool. It’s neither hard nor time-consuming.”
Family Affair: “We all love using the pool, so we all take care of it, too. Once a week we go out, throw on some tunes, and give our favorite space some TLC for an hour.”
The Delegator: “I hired a pool company to take care of everything. I don’t even have to think about it.”
The bottom line?
These homeowners may have a different approach to maintenance, but they all agree that having a pool is well worth the bit of upkeep it requires. Nobody regrets getting a pool because it turned out to be too much work.
That’s just not a thing.
As for regrets, “Mindful Approach” Matt has only one:
“I wish I hadn’t waited. I think about the summers we could’ve had.”
So, do me a favor: if you’re a pool person – don’t let the “too much work” notion sway you.
And if you’re ready to take the next step – Canyon Pool and Spa is here to help. You can book a free consultation [here] or reply to this email with any questions at all.
